Masters of commercial fit-out meet masters of fire.

Nexus proudly collaborated on the relocation and fit-out of  The Coal Shed in Brighton, one of the city’s largest and most iconic restaurants. Set within a historic Georgian building, this 4,500 sq. ft. space was transformed into a chic industrial-style venue, seamlessly blending heritage architecture with a modern New York-inspired brasserie interior.

Project managing from concept to completion Nexus worked closely with interior designer Sara Fenn and owner Raz Helalat throughout to ensure their vision was brought to life. Features include five distinct dining areas, curved booths for intimate dining and a standout open over-fire kitchen. The team worked meticulously to preserve the building’s original exposed brickwork and combine it with contemporary industrial elements such as black-painted walls and charred-to-black wood to establish a sophisticated urban aesthetic.

Working within the constraints of a historic building required careful planning. Our fit-out team ensured that all modern interventions respected the building’s heritage, particularly when installing new features such as the open kitchen and Himalayan salt chamber.

The NY-Lon (New York meets London) project showcases our commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, ensuring that every corner of this iconic Brighton eatery reflects the passion of its owners and the essence of its wood-fired cuisine.
